‘McConnel’

book cover for 'McConnel' by David Lemon

Hilary Bedwell is an ambitious young police sergeant, trying to make her way in her chosen career. McConnel is a scruffy, shiftless drop out from Society living with other ‘hippies’ in a squalid commune.

An unlikely romance springs up between them and McConnel does his best to assist Hilary by slipping her information about crimes in the community.

Despite warnings from her superiors about the company she is keeping, Hilary enjoys being with McConnel until he is identified as a serial criminal who has eluded the police for a long time. Swearing vengeance, she puts everything into trying to hunt him down, but all is not as it seems.

McConnel turns out to be anything but a shiftless waster but is it too late for both of them?

I thoroughly enjoyed writing this novel as I was able to lend my knowledge of policing in Cotswold society to this tale of romance and intrigue, set in a small country town. It is my first book of either fact or fiction to be set in the United Kingdom rather than the wild places of Africa.

I have another Hilary Bedwell story churning around in my mind so would appreciate feedback on McConnell. So far I have had four positive comments and one negative so perhaps Ms Bedwell will make a comeback early next year. I might have to promote her though.
