‘Never Quite a Soldier’

book cover for 'Never Quite a Soldier' by David Lemon

NON FICTION

A policeman’s war 1971 – 1983

Excitement – humour – tragedy – sadness and hope: these are the ingredients of my brutally honest story about a policeman’s role in the dying days of Rhodesia and the birth of Zimbabwe. As one of the few white officers to fight for Ian Smith, Bishop Muzorewa and Robert Mugabe, I was in a unique position to write about those turbulent years of war and its terrible aftermath.

January 2021 – I sold my last copy a couple of weeks ago and although the South African version was due to have a second edition printed last year, Peter Stiff who owned Galago Press died just before the reprint was due and his wife Fran has wound up the company.

So I am afraid that unless you can find an old copy on Amazon or similar outlets, ‘Never Quite a Soldier’ has to be confined to history.
